Is club level service worth it at the newly remodeled Pixar Place Hotel? Here's how it could be for your next trip:

After a long-anticipated refurbishment, Disneyland's Paradise Pier Hotel finally reopened as the Pixar Place Hotel earlier this year, offering guests refreshed amenities and newly designed spaces that blend modern comfort with the playful charm of Pixar's beloved characters.

Among the new features of the hotel is the Creators Club, an exclusive lounge experience available to guests staying in club level rooms. On a recent visit, I had the chance to stay in one of these club level rooms and experience the revamped hotel firsthand.

THE CREATORS CLUB EXPERIENCE

The Creators Club is located on the second floor of Pixar Place Hotel.

Staying in a club level room at Pixar Place in July granted me access to the newly opened Creators Club. During my stay, the club was available from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and offered light bites and drinks throughout the day. Despite staying for only one night, I was able to use the lounge on both my check-in day and check-out day until 1 pm.

The cost of the club level room was about double that of a standard room, but I made sure to take full advantage of the lounge. I enjoyed lunch, dinner, and snacks on my check-in day, as well as breakfast and lunch on my check-out day.

DINING OPTIONS IN THE CREATORS CLUB

Each of the dining options at the Creators Club were advertised as light bites, snacks, and appetizers, rather than meals.

Sunnyside Continental: Breakfast in the lounge featured a variety of options, including mini quiches, blintzes, oatmeal, fresh fruit, yogurt, and cereal. To be honest, nothing absolutely blew me away, but it was nice to be able to have at least a light meal before heading to rope drop.

Midway Snacks: For lunch, there was an assortment of bite-sized sandwiches and a salad bar. I felt that lunch had the best offerings, and it also happened to be the least busy time at the lounge (by that, I mean there was not another soul in sight outside of my group.)

Snacks throughout the day included a "build your own" popcorn station with toppings (hello Lucky Charms marshmallows!), and fresh fruit. I admit to getting a small bowl of fruit with a few heaping spoonfuls of those marshmallows—it's all about balance, right?

Ka-Chow Hour: Dinner-time offerings were light appetizers, consisting of chicken or vegetable potstickers, mini egg rolls, fried rice, and salads. We were told the menu changed to different cuisines nightly, and the following night would be French food.

Nighttime Num Nums: And finally, dessert included an assortment of cookies, brownie bites, Rice Krispie squares, and fruit. Each of these were really great.

Drinks: Throughout the day, coffee (including specialty coffees), soda, juice, and water were always available, with beer and wine being served during Ka-Chow Hour.

While the portion sizes were small, it was nice to know we could always go back for more food. Though none of the food was particularly outstanding, it was convenient not having to find meals in the park and spend extra money.

When it was time to leave the Creators Club for the last time, I was a bit bummed that I wouldn’t be able to pop back in for a snack whenever I wanted!

IS CLUB LEVEL WORTH IT?

As I considered whether the club level service was worth the additional cost, I began to think about what else was included: Aside from Creator Club access, the only other perk was a concierge to help with reservations or any other questions.

The club level room was roughly twice the price of a normal room at Pixar Place. If you have a group of four or five, that cost could certainly be worth it if you eat all of your meals at the club compared to buying three meals in the parks.

But if you like the idea of snacking and eating around the parks to try all the yummy offerings, it might be better to plan your meals in the park ahead of time so you can choose foods you’re really excited about. With club level access, you’re at the mercy of whatever they decide to serve—and depending on how busy it is, you might not get to try everything before it’s gone.

For example, on the night we had dinner, the club was packed, and we couldn’t find an open seat. Most of the food stations were empty, and some appetizers were never refilled. It took about 20 minutes for the others to be replenished. If we had park plans, this delay could have messed up our evening schedule.

THE PREMIUM VIEW ROOM

My club level room was also a premium view room, which was definitely a highlight. The view from the 14th floor was stunning, offering a bird’s eye view into Disney California Adventure. It was so much fun to people watch and see the Incredicoaster go by again and again.

The premium view room sure has a premium view!

One of the other perks of this room type was the ability to watch the World of Color show right from your room, with a dedicated channel on the TV that synced the music to the performance. As someone who loves World of Color, I was so excited to enjoy the show from the comfort of my room.

While I didn’t expect a perfect view, I had hoped to see some of the show’s projections, but from our angle, it was mostly colorful water screens—more akin to watching the Bellagio fountains with Disney music. I still enjoyed the novelty of it and tuned in for both the 9 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. showings.

Having stayed on the opposite side of the hotel during a previous pre-renovation visit, the premium view is the way to go at Pixar Place. The alternative view overlooks the pool, which, while fine, has its drawbacks. The hotel walls are somewhat thin, and we could hear music and the Crush waterslide every so often. While an adorable new pool, hearing Crush cheering on kids going down the slide wasn't the best background noise for a midday nap.

Even so, the thin walls are something to keep in mind on both the club level and premium view sides of the hotel. Around 11 p.m. on my latest visit, hotel staff politely informed us that our conversation was carrying more than expected and disturbing other guests. We were surprised since we were speaking at a normal volume, so it’s a good thing to keep in mind when choosing this hotel.

THE VERDICT

The Creators Club offers unmatched convenience at Pixar Place Hotel—but whether these upgrades are worth the additional cost depends on your personal preferences and travel plans. If you value convenience and don’t mind a limited menu, the club level could be a great fit for your next trip. If not, snag the premium view room instead and plan your meals in the parks for more variety and excitement.

On my next trip, I'd absolutely choose to stay at Pixar Place again for its magical theming and park proximity. But I'll skip the club level room in favor of just a premium view room and all the in-park snacks I can find.
